I already use Mikrotik for several network. Usually I use the Mikrotik for routing between external IP from ISP with internet network with IP such as 192.168.0.0-192.168.254.254, depend on the network, but most of them is not more than 3 network. For example 192.168.0.0-192.168.0.254 and 192.168.0.0-192.168.2.254. I use NAT for IP translation.

For this conditions, I use Mikrotik RouterBoard 450 and RouterBoard 450G. The different between that Mikrotik is only the RAM memory, which is better? Of course 450G better, because it use bigger RAM. The spec for Mikrotik RB450G is 680Mhz Atheros AR7161 processor, with 256RAM. Both of them already support Mikrotik RouterOS Level 4, so this is enough for what I need, because it already support bandwidth manager for each IP or MAC.

Mikrotik 450G is recommended for small or medium network. Base with my experience, this is still ok for routing and manage the internet bandwidth for 20-40 computers. This router can work prefectly with ADSL modem or cable modem. For the network manager, using Mikrotik can make their work become easier, because it already have many feature for it. It have their own graphing, this feature also known as MRTG for record the bandwidth usage from network with graphic interface. Mikrotik RouterBoard 450G use very small power source and design for all day on. We can control the function from network with telnet, web and small windows software Winbox. The price for this routerBoard is around U$100 – U$110, worth to buy.
