Puppy Linux is a small and good Live CD, it mean that we can download the ISO file and burn it to create a CD. After that we can directly choose our computer to boot from CD and after that a good graphic of Linux is ready to use.
Yes, that is really simple to run Puppy Linux at our computer as Live CD. First that we have to do is download the ISO files at : http://www.puppylinux.org
After finish download, we can start create that ISO files become CD, I use ordinary CD (not DVD) for my LiveCD because Puppy Linux source is less than 700MB, it mean using CD is ok.
Beside create LiveCD to make computer can be booting from CD and directly open Puppy Linux operating system, Puppy Linux also can be create at USB Flash disk and Hard Disk, but maybe next time we will talk about how to make Puppy Linux operating system other than Live CD.
Puppy Linux already include with GUI (Graphical User Interface), so this is very good for everyone, especially for ordinary people who already know using Microsoft Windows or other kind of Linux GUI. For Puppy GUI have 2 kind of graphical : X.org for full resource and Xvesa for thin resource. When we start Puppy Linux, we will find a simple startup to make sure the GUI can be work properly with our Graphic VGA card.
When I write this article, the latest version of Puppy Linux is 4 series (4.2.1) with 100MB size to download. Latest version already have right toolbar like what Microsoft Windows Vista Have. This version already include standard internet browser, open office, image viewer and manipulation software and other standard software. This is usually enough for ordinary user. But we also can add more software to install at Puppy Linux, and create our own Live CD with Remaster Tools.
