ClamWin antivirus can download the database by itself without user interference. We can schedule the engine to download at specific time. • main.cvd (update about every 3 months)

• daily.cvd (update everyday)

main.cvd is collection of some daily.cvd update, but this file only update every 2 or 3 months or after the daily.cvd file become to big to download everyday. That's why when we want to download, we can determine first when the release date of each update file. And we don't have to download all files if we already have the main.cvd at the same release date. Only daily.cvd that we have to download everyday, and this will not take so many bandwidth consumptions.

How ClamWin Scan for Virus?

We can directly scan drive by using right click of Explorer menu and run scan with ClamWin command. This software also can be schedule to scan all or several drive at Windows computer. Don't forget to setting the preference to move the infected files to specific folders (this folder only for virus). I installed this antivirus at my Windows 2003 server, and scan the fileserver drive at night after no user connected at server. We can set the email report if the ClamWin find virus.

The only thing that ClamWin can not do that this antivirus does not have a shield protection like any other commercial antivirus, but it's ok because this is opensource and free antivirus that can run so good at Windows 2003 server.
